Television actress Jannat Zubair Rahmani is currently seen in Colors’ popular show Tu Aashiqui as a leading actress.
Jannat is famous for her role in Tu Aashiqui and is in news right now because her mother raised an objection to her daughter performing an intimate scene in the show as she is only 16 years old. Now the producers of the show have agreed to the actress terms of now not kissing on-screen.
In an interview with a web portal, Jannat Zubair revealed her points regarding the kissing controversy.
How did it all start?
It all started with a Holi portion where the makers wanted Aahan to kiss me and remove gulal from my face and neck. Being a minor girl, I was not ok with it. Also, in my contract, it is surely asserted that I won’t do any close scenes. But then slowly, there were additions of such scenes. I supported them to shoot a scene where Ahan had to kiss my hand and forehead as the per the script’s requirement. But later, they involved cheeks and neck too which made me feel awkward and I denied to do it.

Your mother lashed out at them?
Yes, because she knows that I am not comfortable doing it. And why will a mother support her minor child to do such things?

Besides being a minor, were there any other reasons for your refusal?
Of course, one more major reason is that a lot of youths and children regard me- my dressing sense, my actions too. So, I always want to set a right example for them and by doing all this at 16, I don’t want to send out any incorrect advice to them. Their parents also love to watch the show as for them I am someone who is doing proper stuff.

But isn’t this a part of your profession?
I know that being in this business, I will have to do private scenes if a script requires but let me reach that age. I am just 16-year-old. Besides that, I also feel that one must work on their conditions and according to what their heart says.

I will not do anything if someone is pressurizing and bothering me to do it. I could have built a big scene and requested the right people to protect me but I didn’t do this because this show is close to my heart.
Did the makers change their behaviour towards you while all this was going on?
No, they were very sweet to me at that point in time also.

Weren’t they planning to replace you?
Yes, that’s true. A few actresses were called to substitute me. But nothing was talked to us directly. Anyhow, they could not have substituted me until I gave them a NOC. They have the right to include other actors but they can’t take another Pankti, till I allow them.

We wish good luck to the actress a good career further.
