An unfortunate incident took place in the spiritual land of Varanasi today evening. A flyover which was under construction collapsed suddenly. The incident left 12 dead on the spot and many people were trapped under it as per the reports. Many feared people who tried to run away from the flyover got trapped in between the fallen flyover. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.
The incident took place as two pillars of the under construction flyover collapsed in Cannt area of Varanasi. This in result made the huge slab of concrete fall down on the people passing under it. Many cars were crashed under the concrete slab that fell and many people were trapped.
The people who were trapped under the slab were reported to be labourers working on the flyover. The area was exactly spotted near cantonment area railway station. It is so far said that four vehicles which were under the falling slab at the time of incident along with a mini bus were crashed.

Rescue operations were on as soon as the incident was reported by locals to the police. At least three JCBs are at the spot to rescue the victims over there. A boundary wall next to the flyover was demolished in order to allow bigger vehicles to assist in operations.
Higher officials have come to the spot where the deadly incident took place and are taking stock of the situation. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya and minister Neelkanth Tiwari to rush to the spot.
UP minister Sidharth Nath Singh said to the media, “The chief minister has expressed grief and directed the administration to speed up a rescue operation.”
It is expected that the number of deceased may increase. Up until now very few people were rescued from the spot. The rescue teams were on the spot right away and were rescuing the workers who were got struck in the middle of the huge slab.
Because of the sunset, there could be a problem for the rescue operation. However, by the morning it is possible that most of the trapped would be rescued. The deceased will be identified and will be sent for postmortem. The injured are being transferred to the nearest hospitals through ambulance service. The exact figure of the diseased will be revealed by morning.
