There is no doubt that facial hair can radically change the look of a man. It has been said that moustaches cultivate this air of authority, of power and dependability. Some also believe that a well-groomed and full moustache is an indicator of a responsible man. The same goes with police personnel in various armed forces. Now as per a media report, Uttar Pradesh’s Personnel of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) authorities have decided to raise the reward it gave to police officers with robust moustaches – from Rs 50 to Rs 250.
Additional Director General (ADG) PAC, Binod Kumar Singh, got the idea after he visited Kumbh Mela and saw some police officers with big moustaches. It will be applicable for 33 PAC battalions.

The trend of growing moustache was popular earlier, but in recent year it has been on a decline. However, with these new incentives, the authorities hope to revive the trend again.
Officials believe that moustaches added a certain degree of personality to the cops.
In India, keeping a moustache is often considered as a symbol of pride as it also represents masculinity and virility. In Rajasthan, annual moustache competitions take place in which prizes are given for the longest beard and the thickest beard.
Like UP, in Madhya Pradesh too there is a separate allowance which is being given to the police. An official said after being asked over this:
“Moustaches are improving the personalities of our constables. They are acquiring an aura of their own. They are creating a positive impression on the local people and getting a lot of respect.”
