Police Officer Mocks African-American Girl On Snapchat, Sparks Outrage

Police officers are the implementer of the law for any respective city or nation. They are supposed to make sure that no crimes of any nature occur in their vicinity. But what happens when these proponents of law become the culprits? Well, it reminds us that there are some major issues in our society which need to be dealt with. And something similar happened recently when a police officer from Detroit made a Snapchat post mocking an African-American girl.
Racism is one of the viruses that is destroying the society inside out. Treating someone poorly or judging them based on their color is outright wrong. And the snap created by the police officer is nothing short of this.

So, what happened was, Ariel Moore, the girl in the video was driving home one day. And the officer in question was patrolling on the route. When the police officer checked Moore’s license which was past expiry, he made her walk home instead. If this wasn’t enough, what he did next will shock you all.
The officer recognized as Gary Steele made a Snapchat video of Ariel walking back home. He put in the frame ‘What Black Girl Magic Looks Like’.  Also, he was heard making condescending remarks- ‘walk of shame’, ‘in the cold’ and ‘bye Felicia’ in the video. Check out the video by Police Officer Gary Steele here:

All of those who took notice of the video began firing at Steele for being racist. In fact, an inquiry into his behavior is under process with the police department. The video has hurt the sentiments of many, including Ariel Moore and her mother Monique Mobley. Here is what Monique reportedly told a media daily about the incident:
“What they put on there, that’s racist. Like they are demeaning my child for nothing. if you felt like that was okay to do, then what are you telling the society?”

This incident also left Ariel Moore in shock. Here is what she reportedly said about the video:

“I have never had this happen to me in my life, so I am kind of shocked.”

And, it seems like this is not the first time that officer Gary has been a part of an incident. As per reports, back in 2008, he was charged with physically attacking his girlfriend. Well, an official inquiry certainly serves him right, doesn’t it? So, let me ask you this- what do you think needs to be done to end racism? Leave us your views in comments.
