Not Dance Teacher But Madhuri Dixit Will Play A Courtesan In Kalank
Karan Johar’s Kalank has the super-duper star cast including Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. Well, we have earlier informed that Madhuri Dixit going to play the role of the dance teacher.
But, as per the recent reports, Madhuri Dixit is all set to recreate her Devdas days in the film, as she will be seen playing a courtesan in the movie.

As the source revealed, “Madhuri Dixit will be playing a courtesan in the movie which is a period drama. She is a trained Kathak dancer in the movie, who teaches others the dance form. Given her knowledge and mastery on dance, especially Kathak, this one is easy for her. Despite that, she is putting in 4-5 hours for the rehearsals. Currently, due to the promotions of Bucket List, she is slightly caught up. But once that gets done, she will be leaving no stone unturned for the movie.”

Further, it also informed that there isn’t anything like Devdas in Kalank, “Though Madhuri Dixit’s character in Devdas was of a courtesan, it is very different from what she has in Kalank. The angle to this is different and hence it won’t be anything like Chandramukhi,” adds the source.
“While Madhuri Dixit plays this character, Sanjay Dutt portrays the role of a Raja. But at this moment, not much can be revealed about his character. Only when he begins shooting, things will be slightly clearer. Right now, the director is shooting with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha, the source said.

About the film, Karan while talking to the leading daily said, “Kalank has been an emotional journey for me. A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago; a film that was in pre-production stage helmed by my father. I am now proud to pass it on to the capable and visionary hands of our director, Abhishek. The film is a beautifully structured story by Shibani Bathija, and has an exceptionally fluid narrative and screenplay by Abhishek.”
