Is Acid Attack Survivors Taking Part In Parade A True Reflection Of Republic Day Spirit?

India’s 70th Republic Day celebration is going to witness something incredible. Yes, we are talking about the involvement of acid attack survivors on Republic Day parade in Lucknow. This is something that is going to happen for the first time. Employees of Sheroes Café, Anshu Rajput (20) and Preeti Patel (21) are all set to showcase their story of courage to the world. Not only that, but the inclusion of acid attack survivors on Republic Day parade will also serve as an inspiration for many.

The two proud girls walked along with the armed contingent and they showcase unending confidence. In an interview they said:

‘It’s the first time acid attack survivors are taking part in the Republic Day parade. We walked past Vidhan Bhawan and Lok Bhawan with our head held high. It will boost our self confidence.’

These brave girls were also seen spreading a very important message during the rehearsal. They said:

‘We are fighters and one should not address us as victims.’

The acid attack survivors on Republic Day parade gave a performance on Shiksha aur atmaraksha prashikshan ke madhyam se mahila sashaktikaran ki ore (women empowerment through education and self-defense.). The duo was attacked by some men in 2014 but they didn’t give up on life and are motivating others to do the same.

We think it certainly captures the true spirit of Republic Day in terms that our country is slowly rising above prejudices. What do you think about the story of these young women? Why don’t you share with us in the comments below?
