This Young Siblings’ Bravery During A Violent Protest Is An Inspiration To All

Let us tell you the story of a 10-year-old girl, who four years ago got caught in a fire, that critically injured her legs. This terrible incident had left her scarred mentally and physically. Medical treatments weren’t working, and doctors were not sure if she could ever walk again. “She went into such a situation that doctors worried that it could develop depression in her,” her father told a media house.
On January 23, she, along with her brother received the bravery award from President Ram Nath Kovind.

The girl’s name is Adrika and her brother’s name is Kartik. While speaking to the media house, Adrika said:
“Despite treatment, I was not able to stand properly. Several people had started showing pity on my situation. I was also very upset and felt dejected.”

Hoping that martial arts will help in improving her condition, her parents enrolled her in a taekwondo class. Fortunately, this worked for Adrika and she slowly regained her strength and confidence.

In April, a riot broke out in MP due to the then going protest against the dilution of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Rioters decided to pelt stones at UP-CG Express train, which was halted at the station. Adrika and Kartik live just 200m away from the station. When they came to know about the riots, they rushed to their homes and brought food and water from the home to serve the passengers, who got captured inside the train.
Adrika’s father, Akshat Goyal said:
“Our home is just 200 meters away from Morena station. Both kids wanted to help the passengers. They ran from one coach to the other to provide water and food items to the passengers. Even we were not aware that they were helping the passengers in a situation when protestors were pelting stones on the train. Soon, their videos and photos went viral on social media. Others also joined us and started helping.”

This courage displayed by the siblings entitled them for the bravery award. Adrika is also a world record holder and brand ambassador of the “Save Girl Child” campaign of her district. Kartik too holds a national record. He holds the record for being youngest sketcher. Their story is surely an inspiring one!
