Indian Railways has transformed up to some extend in the last few years. It has brought in new changes and they are revolutionary. Introducing new policies, enhancing the security of female passengers and starting off trains, everything has been done to ease the travel experience. The objective behind these is to help the passenger have a hassle-free travel. Amongst all the major moves taken by the Indian Railways, certain steps are worth appreciation like starting off helpline numbers, food on order etc.
A recent incident highlighted Indian Railways’ efforts to help the passengers. It was when a guy tweeted about his friend who needed a sanitary pad, that he received an instant reply and further help from the railway department.
The incident took place in Karnataka when a passenger named Vishal Khanapure and his friend were travelling on a train from Bengaluru to Hospet. Midway, when his friend got her period and didn’t have a pad with her, he tweeted to the authorities of the Indian Railways asking for a sanitary pad and Meftal Spas (painkiller) tablets. After tweeting about it and calling up the designated authorities, the Indian Railway Seva immediately acted on his request.

He said that the officials contacted his friend at 11:06 PM and she got the essentials at 2:00 AM. He further added that this was a fast move by the Railways and he is very surprised and happy. Indian Railways has also announced to have sanitary pad vending machines in trains and at railway stations. This is a great step by them and also a necessary one.
