Kareena And Bipasha Once Had A Major Catfight, And It Got Physical

There is no denying fact that it is rare to find good friendships among leading actresses in Bollywood. Be it because of jealousy, self-obsession or competition, but actresses avoid making close friends from within the industry. Bollywood doesn’t only comprise of fake friendships and relations, but it has witnessed some big cat fights too. You might not be aware that there was once a nasty spat between two leading actresses Kareena Kapoor Khan and Bipasha Basu.

The incident dates back to 2001, when a thriller movie ‘Ajnabee‘ was about to hit the screens.  The movie was starring Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Kareena Kapoor, And Bipasha Basu. It was Bipasha’s Bollywood Debut. There are rumours that the two actresses had a nasty fight over the costumes. Things got worse when Kareena’s Contume designer helped Bipasha with her costume without Kareena’s consent.

This led to a war of words between both. It is rumoured that Kareena stretched the fight further by calling Bipasha a “kaali billi (black cat)” and even slapped her. 

Later, that year, Bipasha told Filmfare, “I think this is a case of making a mountain out of a molehill. There were never any problems with me. She had some problems with the designer. I don’t know why I was pulled in. It was quite childish.” 

Bipasha also expressed that she would never like to work with Kareena ever again.

However, Kareena came up with her side of story during an interview with Filmfare in 2002.

Bebo said, “She just doesn’t seem to have any confidence in her own talent. In a four-page interview, she spoke about me for three pages. Why not talk about your work? I think her only claim to fame is that she fought with me during Ajnabee over dress designer Vikram Phadnis. She’s given statements that I called her uncharitable names. Now, that’s a figment of her imagination.”

However, things didn’t end with this. In the 2nd season of Koffee with Karan, Kareena called Bipasha’s then-boyfriend John Abraham “Expressionless,” and said that she would never like to work with him. This didn’t go well with Bipasha and she retaliated the same way. When Bipasha came on ‘Koffee with Karan’, she said that Kareena had “Too many expressions.”

But, in 2008, Kareena chose to end the cold war by inviting Bipasha on Saif Ali Khan’s Birthday. This broke the ice between two and they greet each other warmly whenever they meet.
